It's big, it's bold, and it is vitally important to all Australians. It's The House of Living Water, the Moogerah Passion Play Association's project to create Australia's first interactive Christian Heritage Tourist Centre at The Lake Theatre.

Much of the infrastructure has already been created. There is a stone entrance complex which incorporates a ticket office, administration building, covered walkway, garden and waterfall. There is the open-air auditorium which can seat 2,000, the Sea of Galilee and Calvary as well as all the other facilities and landscaping of The Lake Theatre.

What remains to be built is the central building, the 'wow' feature of the complex, the building which gives its name to the whole - the House of Living Water.

People will come to be entertained. They will come to learn about modern Australia's Christian foundations, national ethos, culture, language and place names. The medium will be drama - interactive drama in a special heritage area.

They will also take part in re-enactments of both the Old and the New Testaments in a Biblical Village. Scenes from the Passion Play will be performed in the auditorium.

And then the House of Living Water - a circular building reminiscent of a giant water-tank. Thirty metres across, this building will celebrate water - literal and spiritual water. A waterfall will cascade over the roof and fall into a pond beyond the entrance, and a 'river of life' will flow across the floor. It will celebrate light - the Light of the World and also the sunlight which filters through coloured glass around the second level. And it will celebrate nature in the form of a multitude of tree trunks reaching up into the domed cupola.

At ground level stand 12 x 6 metre high figures - the Biblical Giants - whose stories will be told in a spectacular sound and light show. Above them tower 10 lesser trees, carved to represent the 10 commandments, above them the four Gospels, and finally a transparent cupola with three crosses. What a sight this will be.

Around the periphery will be hi-tech displays celebrating many aspects of Christianity in this multicultural country. There will be music, a children's corner, even a special children's entrance, and outside a playground themed around Noah's Ark.

A screen 60 x 2.5 metres is suspended around the inner perimeter of the building, and the wall inside the entrance forms another huge screen. Both will be used in the sound and light shows, but both can be used independently for other forms of entertainment.

Full visits will be available from Thursday to Sunday, but because the House of Living Water is a multi-purpose building, and because the MPP Assoc. Inc. is a not-for-profit community organisation, this building will be available for community use - for meetings, theatre (the central floor can seat 250 people), concerts, cinema, weddings etc. There will be a cafeteria/restaurant overlooking the Lake to the mountains of the beautiful Scenic Rim, and also a gift shop.

The House of Living Water will be a significant employer. Construction will require a small army of skilled and semi-skilled workers, and the on-going operation will involve a number of permanent, part-time permanent, and casual employees. There will also be an opportunity for volunteers to be involved in greeting and guiding visitors.

The key focus of The House of Living Water will be the love of Jesus - to celebrate His unconditional love, to show it, to live it, to offer it to those who up to now do not live in the abundance of its Grace.
